We are pleased to invite you to the Where Land Meets Sea spiritual retreat on the beautiful west coast of Sweden. Welcome to listen to inspiring talks, take part in communal prayers and meditative gatherings and enjoy the company of spiritual teachers and fellow seekers, all while immersing yourself in a rejuvenating spiritual and natural environment.

As always, the retreat is open to all – brothers and sisters, young and old, new seekers and seasoned travellers on the spiritual path, irrespective of what formal school or tariqa you belong to, if any. All sincere seekers from any religion or tradition are most welcome. We seek to meet in a spirit of openness, compassion, courtesy and understanding. Our hope, God willing, is for this to be a time in which our relative, transient and limited self (nafs) aligns itself harmoniously with the absolute and unbounded soul (ruh).

Programme

The retreat will begin in the evening Thursday 9 May and continue until mid-day Sunday 12 May. We are pleased to welcome Shaykh Afeefuddin Al-Jailani, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ahmed Fredericks and Shaykh Mohammad Muslim Eneborg as our main speakers. The overall theme will be Patience and Perseverance.

Throughout the retreat, talks and workshops will be held. In between these sessions, there will be time for communal and individual prayer and meditation, contemplative walks by the sea and opportunities to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. We will start each day with a silent meditation session (dhikr) and in the evenings we gather for a vocal dhikr. More on our speakers and programme can be found here.

Fees and venue

The fee for retreat (not including accommodation) is 600 SEK for adults and 200 SEK for children above four years of age. Younger children are welcome free of charge. This includes breakfast and one warm vegetarian meal in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a 24/7 self-service buffet with snacks, sandwiches, fruit, tea/coffee, and more.

The retreat will take place at Steningegården between Halmstad and Falkenberg on the West coast of Sweden. A limited number of beds are available at the venue and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. The cost for accommodation varies between 300–600 SEK/night depending on room size. More information about Steningegården and housing options can be found here.

If you are not able to pay the full fee for the retreat, please specify this when you register and we will try our best to find a solution. We try our best to keep the costs and fees for the retreat as low as possible. Please consider a donation to our organisation to make our activities available to as many as possible.

We look forward to seeing you at the retreat! You are all most welcome!

With peace, light and joy,
Det yttersta trädet / Sidratul Muntaha
